"Love resurrected them... The heart of one contained infinite sources of life for the heart of the other."
- Fyodor Dostoyevsk
Research validates that good relationships are the foundation for optimal health, happiness and fulfillment. People who have fulfilling relationships report greater life satisfaction and an enhanced sense of meaning and purpose. By contrast, isolation and stressed relationships are associated with depression, anxiety and an array of health concerns, including chronic pain, cardiovascular illness and cognitive decline.
Like a child’s attachment to a caregiver, our relationship with an intimate partner deeply impacts every aspect of our lives. When our relationship is strong, we feel secure, supported, confident and capable of meeting life challenges. When that relationship falters our foundation weakens; we’re often left feeling insignificant, unheard, uncared for and alone.
I am certified in a model for couple and family therapy called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is supported by extensive clinical research; 70 to 75 percent of couples move from distress to recovery, and approximately 90 percent show significant improvements.
My approach is structured and systematic, and helps couples:
- Identify re-occurring negative patterns in their relationship;
- Break through destructive patterns by identifying underlying needs;
- Create alternative, adaptive behavior patterns;
- Renew or create close and powerful emotional bonds
